Dr. Steve Doerr
Dr. Steve Doerr is originally from a rural area in West Tennessee, and grew up around farm animals of all kinds. Having so many animals, he was always involved in their care. His first interaction with a veterinarian was when his family had to euthanize a horse, and he had additional exposure later with family pets. He was so impressed while watching and helping the veterinarian and learning what he did to help their animals, it sparked his interest in a veterinary career.
Dr. Doerr obtained his BS in Animal Science at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. He lived on campus and was heavily involved with the day-to-day care of animals at the farm. He worked as a technician for 2 years in a small animal practice before going on to get his DVM at Oklahoma State University. Go Pokes!
He has 28 years of general practice experience and has cultivated several professional interests, including preventive care, surgery, wound care, and dermatology. Dr. Doerr loves the variety that general practice brings—no two days are the same, and something exciting is always just around the corner. He also enjoys getting to know families and helping support their unique human-animal bonds.
Outside of work, Dr. Doerr enjoys spending time with his family—whether it be at a travel volleyball game or on a beach somewhere. He has two beautiful, bright daughters, a loving wife, and a brood of pets: two Pittie rescues named Bonnie and June, a Soft-coated Wheaten terrier named Wesley, a tabby cat named Slippers, and a Sulcata tortoise named Rupert. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing and his classic pickup.
